1 cup butter (2 sticks)
5 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans***

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and powdered sugar. Work flour, vanilla and nuts into creamed mixture. Form into small balls or crescents.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.

Roll tarts in extra powdered sugar while still warm so the sugar will stick.

These don't have any raising agent like soda or baking powder so they take a little longer to cook. The recipe actually says bake them for 30 minutes but I have never had to cook mine that long.

*** If you chop the pecans very fine you get what my mother use to
call a wedding cookie. I take about a tablespoon of dough and roll it
into a log about 2 inches long and then bend slightly to make the crescent shape.
