*3 cups self-rising flour, sifted and remeasured to be sure you don't use more than 3 cups. Never use a knife to level your flour as it packs it down. See NOTE below.
*1/4 cup sugar
*1 can (12 oz) beer (darker beers makes a stronger yeast flavor and light beer makes it more of a white bread
*1/4 cup melted butter (do not mix in recipe)

NOTE: If you are using regular flour instad of sefl-rising then add 3 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt. I keep self-rising flour just for this recipe as I make it at least once a week to eat with barbeque, soup or beans instead of corn bread.

Mix all dry ingredients together. Add beer and mix first with a wooden spoon and then your hands. Pour into a 9x5 inch loaf pan that has been greased. Pour melted butter on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. The top will be crunchy and the inside will be soft.

Let set for about 10 to 15 minutes and then slice. This bread is great toasted with butter and garlic to eat leftovers. It also is great served with spreads or dip, such as spinach dip.

You can add any cheese, dill, Italian seasonings or garlic to change this recipe up. But first make it plain and ENJOY.
