8 (4oz) uncooked Bratwursts
1/4 cup olive oil
1 head of white cabbage
1 teaspoon caraway seed
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2-3 white potatoes, peeled and sliced 3/8th inch thick
1 leek, sliced into 8 4x1/2 inch strips
2 medium onions, peeled and quartered
8 large mushroom caps, or use can mushrooms if you don't have fresh
2 cups chicken stock
Brown Bratwursts in oil. Layer bottom of large casserole dish with 6 cups of sliced cabbage. Season the cabbage with the caraway seed, pepper, salt and garlic. Slice potatoes and lay on top of cabbage. Lay cooked sausage on top of cabbage. Lay sliced leek between the sausage. Lay onions and mushrooms in the pan and cover with chicken stock. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Uncover and cook an additional 15 minutes.
Note: Cut this recipe in half for small family.
