Excellent when you have house guests.
10 slices white bread
1/2 pound shredded medium or sharp cheddar cheese
6 eggs
3 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 carton fresh mushrooms - wash and slice
10-12 strips of bacon - cooked and crumbled
butter
Trim crusts off of all slices of bread. Butter both sides of bread silces. Cut bread into cube-sized squares.
Place bread in UNBUTTERED 9" x 12" baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese, siced mushrooms, and crumbled bacon
over bread cubes. Beat eggs, slowly add milk to eggs, continue lightly beating and add salt. Pour egg mixture over
bread cubes, chese, mushrooms and bacon. Cover all of this tightly with foil and refrigerate overnight. Next morning,
remove from the refrigerator for 1/2 hour prior to baking. Bake covered for 40 - 45 minutes in 350 degree oven.
Serves about 4 or 5.
If I am having more people over for breakfast I make two pans of this and then I bake one on each rack of my oven
and bake for 1 and 1/2 hours.
