8 slices of Texas Toast, White Bread or Raisin Bread
1/3 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
6 eggs
2 cups of egg nog or buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Maple Syrup and or Powdered Sugar as accompaniment
Arrange a single layer of bread in a 9x13 baking pan. In a medium bowl whisk eggs
until blended. Whisk in sugar, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and butter.
Pour misture over bread. Turn slices to coat. Cover with plastic wrap
and refrigerate overnight. Preheat over to 400 degrees. Bake 10 minutes.
Turn bread over and bake until golden color, about 5 minutes. Serve with syrup or powdered sugar.
