Sort and Wash 3 cups of pinto beans
Cover beans with water and let soak for 2 hours ( you don't have to do this if you are cooking in the crock pot)
Drain beans and put in medium large pot
2 pieces of bacon cut up in small pieces
Add 1/2 cup chopped onions (add more if you like)
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
2 jalapenos, chopped small (optional)
2 tomatoes chopped fine
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
Salt and Pepper to taste
Cover with water
Cook the beans on medium until done. Depending on your water it could take as little as 3 hours or
as long as 6 hours. Be sure and keep an eye on the water level and don't let it run dry.
Or put all ingredients in a crock pot and put on high and beans will be ready in about 8 hours without you worrying about them.
If you want plain beans then delete the tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cumin and chili powder.
