2 lb lean ground beef
2 lb ground sausage or chili meat
OR, you can use 2 lbs of venison if you have it in place of the ground beef.
1 large or 2 medium onions chopped fine
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoon of cumin
5 tablespoons of chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1 4oz can of diced green chilies (these are not hot)
1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 medium can of tomato sauce
2 seeded and finely chopped jalapenos (optional)
Fry meats until they are gray with no pink, but don't over cook. Drain meat well on paper towels. Put meat in large pot
with other ingredients and add enough water to cook. I usually just add chili powder until I like the flavor.
Also add salt and pepper to taste. You can add a few drops of hot sauce if you want to add more heat.
Cook on medium stirring often for an hour to meld all the flavors together. Sometimes I make my chili the day
before and put in the frig and then warm up the next day and it is even better.
NOTE: If you like beans in your chili then add a can of red beans or kidney beans without juices
