CHOCOLATE COKE CAKE
1 package (18.25 ounces) devil's food cake mix
1 package (4-serving size) chocolate instant pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1-3/4 cups Coke or DR Pepper, divided (see Option)
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 package (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 9" x 13" baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, beat the cake and pudding mixes, the eggs and oil at
low speed with an electric beater until blended. Gradually add 1-1/4 cups cola.
Increase the beater speed to medium, and beat for 2 minutes; pour the batter
into the baking dish.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center
comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Mash down top of cake with a clean kitchen towel or potholder until top is flat so icing will not all run off.

ICING

In a large saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa, and remaining 1/2 cup Cola; cook over medium heat until the butter melts, stirring constantly. Do not allow to boil.
Remove from the heat; stir in the confectioners' sugar and vanilla then the pecans.
Spread the warm frosting over the top of the warm cake; cool completely on a wire rack.

NOTE: The icing will be runny.
